Strategy 2030

Our vision

The vision builds on the existing strengths of the FH Burgenland, which are to be consistently expanded over the next few years:

"We bring together teaching and personalised learning using modern didactics and new digital possibilities, successful practice and applied research. We network people from different cultures as well as ideas from different disciplines. In doing so, we always put people at the centre. In this way, we create an environment in which personalities grow and long-term bonds are formed. UAS Burgenland is aware of its roots and, as an internationally networked organisation, provides impulses for the sustainable development of the region."

Our mission

Our understanding of the role and tasks of UAS Burgenland is reflected in the
mission statements:

We address the individual situation of our students in content, structures, processes and tailor-made programmes. Within this framework, students can develop according to their interests and potential. Those who bring skills and commitment with them should be given the chance to study.

We support lifelong learning. We do this, on the one hand, through flexible framework conditions for studies and, on the other hand, through our partner institutions and subsidiaries specialising in the field of academic education, further education and training. Together with universities, we organise doctoral studies - especially for our university teachers and graduates.

We offer unique fields of study and subject combinations that are in high demand. Teaching and research are practice-oriented, demand-driven and interdisciplinary, which means that our graduates are comprehensively educated, can master the challenges in practice well, have a high level of employability and face excellent job market opportunities.

We strive for high standards in teaching and research. Students, teachers and researchers are encouraged to achieve results they can be proud of. Through regular internal and external audits, we consistently expand our quality management in a targeted manner. In this way, we ensure the topicality and quality of the study and course programmes.

We value cultural diversity among students, teachers, researchers and staff and support experiences abroad through our international network. This enables us to organise semesters abroad, internships abroad, the exchange of internationally experienced teachers and staff and international research cooperation.

We bring innovations and ideas into the economy and society. In doing so, we see ourselves as a source of impetus for the region as well as the "first port of call" for smaller and medium-sized companies and institutions that are far removed from research, as well as for industrial companies and research partners. We attach great importance to research, technology and innovation - on the one hand as an essential factor for research-led teaching and on the other hand as the most important RTI institution in the region.

We are an academic centre of excellence in Burgenland and identify with our region and its values. This gives rise to our responsibility to promote the common good and to play an active role in the discourse on socially relevant topics.

We see a special responsibility for us to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations as well as to the objectives of the "Green Deal" of the European Union in our sphere of influence and to further develop ourselves as a "sustainable organisation" overall. We document our progress with regular evaluations and want to be a role model in the region.

We promote talent and support the targeted development of personalities. This does not only apply to professional qualifications. It is just as important for us to enable our students, teachers, researchers and staff to develop their personalities and soft skills.

We are committed to the principles of equal treatment and diversity. We categorically exclude any form of discrimination in our actions. We are guided by ethical thinking and action and are committed to adhering to our compliance standards.

We support a balance between studies, work, family and free time. We feel jointly responsible for ensuring that studying is experienced as a challenge in a positive sense and create optimal structures for this. To this end, we want to develop and use various innovative options to ensure the best possible balance between face-to-face and distance learning formats.

We accompany and connect students, researchers, lecturers, staff, partners and graduates. In our personal and appreciative atmosphere, a bond to FH Burgenland grows that ideally lives on through different phases of life and in different roles.

We see ourselves as an active, cooperative and committed partner of Landesholding Burgenland and all its participating companies. In this way, we take advantage of opportunities to increase and deepen economic efficiency, effectiveness and networking.

Guide values

These nine guiding values already determine our actions and are perceived as strengths of FH Burgenland. We would like to make these values even more perceptible and tangible both internally and externally:

  • Responsibility
  • Humanity
  • Reliability
  • Partnership
  • Joy
  • Openness
  • Flexibility
  • Commitment
  • Future orientation
