As a higher education institution and a source of impetus for society and business in the region, FH Burgenland wants to make a significant contribution to more equality in society, where respect, appreciation and equal opportunities are lived and diversity is seen as a valuable resource.

Therefore, we focus on people with their individual needs and ideas, abilities and competences and implement targeted and sustainable measures for more equal treatment and equal opportunities. By raising awareness of gender and diversity and integrating it into teaching and research, we want to make the potential and opportunities arising from this diversity visible and use them.

Our measures

University & Family

Burgenland University of Applied Sciences was awarded the "universityandfamily" certificate. This state quality mark is awarded by the Federal Ministry for Women, Families and Youth to universities that have successfully participated in the audit. 

Gender-sensitive language

Language creates images in the mind - and thus shapes our perception and imagination. With our language, we actively contribute to the equality of all genders and to appreciative communication. That is why we have developed guidelines for discrimination-sensitive language in words and images. These practical suggestions and recommendations were developed together with staff members of the FH-Burgenland and in consultation with the rectorate.

Studying with disabilities

The FH Burgenland attaches great importance to creating fair framework conditions during the course of studies, but also during the admission procedure. Therefore, we ask you to contact us in good time in order to be able to implement assistance and arrangements for the compensation of disadvantages in the best possible way.

We support and give advice to applicants and students with disabilities, chronic illnesses and/or impairments individually, confidentially and anonymously. Information at studierenmitbehinderung[at]fh-burgenland.at

Students and recent graduates with disabilities and chronic illnesses* also find important support at myAbility. The myAbility Talent® programme connects students and academics with disabilities and chronic illnesses with top companies in Vienna (Accenture, Microsoft, Mondi, Oesterreichische Nationalbank, PremiQaMed, Pwc, Takeda, Caritas and voestalpine) and thus supports them in their job search!

Sexualised discrimination

It is important for the FH-Burgenland to be a safe place to study, teach and work, free of discrimination and violence. Therefore, it promotes a culture of looking and naming and encourages people to take responsibility for themselves and others. Sexualised violence and discrimination are not tolerated at the FH-Burgenland.
