"Can I also study without a Matura?"
For prospective students without a Matura (school-leaving examination), the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland offers a course to prepare for the University Entrance Qualification Examination and additional examinations. These differ with regard to the existing previous education, the number of selectable studies, the partial examinations to be taken and the costs incurred.
Two ways to study
University Entrance Qualification Examination
The University Entrance Qualification Examination is not taken for a specific degree programme, but for a group of degree programmes and is valid for every university and university of applied sciences at which a degree programme of the respective group of degree programmes is offered. The prerequisite for taking a university entrance qualification examination is the completion of the 20th year of age and successful vocational or non-vocational previous education for the intended study programme, which clearly goes beyond the fulfilment of general compulsory schooling. The university entrance qualification examination can be taken for all study groups offered at the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland and consists of five partial examinations.
Additional examinations
Successfully passed additional examinations entitle the holder to admission to a specific Bachelor's degree programme at the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland. The prerequisite is a vocational qualification relevant to the respective degree programme (usually a relevant apprenticeship qualification or a qualification from a relevant vocational secondary school). In contrast to the university entrance qualification examination, there is no minimum age. Depending on the degree programme, three or four additional examinations must be successfully passed.
