The Engyneurs

Saving resources and costs through intelligent building technology - this is exactly what the two FH Burgenland graduates Dominik Pötz and Rene Halvax are trying to do with their engineering office engynear.

Even before founding their firm, the two had a history together. After completing their training as installation and building technicians, they attended the evening college at the HTL Pinkafeld for building and energy technology while working. Driven by ambition and motivation, they completed a Bachelor's degree in Building Technology and Building Automation (now Building and Energy Technology) and a Master's degree in Building Technology and Facility Management at the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences.

"We are both very ambitious," says Dominik. "That gave us drive and we were constantly pushing each other."

While thermodynamics was the highlight of Rene's degree programme, Dominik focused on cooling and heat pump technology.

We had been planning to set up our own engineering firm since the beginning of the evening course at the HTL.

This dream came true with engynear. Basically, it is a classic engineering office for building and energy technology based in Graz, but with a special focus on a future-orientated way of working. Their customers are mainly found in private or public industrial and property construction.

"Building services engineering is probably one of the fastest-moving sectors at the moment. With our consulting, planning and monitoring activities in this area, we want to help shape the future in a sustainable way"
