DETAILS ON THE ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR THE BACHELOR'S DEGREE PROGRAMME IN HEALTH MANAGEMENT AND HEALTH PROMOTION

Enrolment and admission

The University of Applied Sciences Bachelor's degree programme in Health Management and Health Promotion accepts 40 applicants each year.

Application deadline: 31 March - you can see whether an application is still possible after this date HERE.

Applications received by the specified deadline for the University of Applied Sciences Bachelor's degree programme in Health Management and Health Promotion will be considered in the admission procedure for the coming academic year. Applications are made via the online application form.

Admission decision
Applicants are assessed, ranked and notified of their admission. Applicants without a definite acceptance will be placed on a waiting list and will move up in the event that applicants who have been accepted are not accepted. Applications that are submitted late can only be considered if places are available.

Deposit
After the binding award of a study place, the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences charges a deposit of € 350,- to secure the study place. This will be refunded to active students at the end of the first semester. If an applicant does not fulfil the admission requirements (e.g. failed secondary school leaving certificate, failed additional qualification examination, etc.), the deposit will also be returned. In all other cases, the deposit is forfeited.

  • Acquisition of additional qualifications during the degree programme - certificates such as Nordic walking basic instructor, project management (PMA) SAP certification, quality manager in the healthcare sector, care home manager training, company health manager

Internship

The vocational training is supplemented in the sixth semester by a fifteen-week work placement in a relevant company in Germany or abroad. As part of the work placement, students write a Bachelor's thesis, which is a theoretically reflective realisation of an independent project in conjunction with business or research partners.

Students are required to take the initiative when looking for companies for the internship; our support is a matter of course. The tools for a successful application - social skills, etc. - are trained in previous semesters. - Commitment during the work placement often also means a job offer after graduation.

At the end of the internship, students design a poster with the most important information about the company and the activities during the internship. The posters are presented as part of a poster presentation and the experiences gained during the internship are reported on. Below are some examples of internship posters from previous years:

On the one hand, our graduates are experts in promoting a healthy lifestyle (e.g. mental health, fitness, nutrition, etc.). On the other hand, they take on a variety of management tasks in health and social institutions (spa and rehabilitation centres, hospitals and nursing homes, healthcare companies, ministries, private and social insurance companies) and in NGOs in the following areas:

Health promotion

Implementation of health promotion projects in companies, health marketing, health counselling, health promotion in communities, schools, kindergartens, etc.

Health management

Team leader in departments in healthcare facilities, quality manager, head of personnel management, nursing home manager, process manager, work and safety management, spa, health resort and rehabilitation management, pharmaceutical management

Health project management

Planning, implementation and collaboration in health projects (topics such as promoting physical activity, healthy eating, promoting mental health)
