Maybe you already work in an international environment, or this should be the next step in your career. The European Union with its many facets interests you and you want to dedicate yourself more intensively to tasks arising from the EU context in the future? English as a language of instruction is an additional asset for you? Then you are the type of candidate we are looking for in the Master’s degree programme European Studies - Management of EU Projects. The programme conveys a generalist understanding of the EU, and additionally, gives you the opportunity to specialise in either EU Policies or EU Project Management.
The study programme is part-time, and we readily admit that we demand a lot from our students. As a university of applied sciences with over 70% of its students working part-time, we are familiar with the specific needs of persons who study alongside their jobs. We react to this by announcing any attendance dates well in advance. Apart from that, we try to keep attendance at a minimum. Around 40% of your studies will be held online with additional teaching input, guest lectures, group meetings or case studies in virtual classrooms. Some of the modules are designed as asynchronous online teaching units, which means you can determine your own hours. However, you should reserve your evenings for synchronous online classes during the semester. In general, the study programme is structured in a way that allows you to meet attendance requirements without having to take weeks off. Nevertheless, you should give this study project the place it deserves in your life.

The master’s programme “European Studies – Management of EU Projects” at the University of Applied Sciences is open to anyone who has completed a course of at least three years at a recognised tertiary institute of higher education in Austria or abroad (at least 180 ECTS).

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR INTERNATIONAL DEGREE SEEKING STUDENTS
Twenty-eight candidates are accepted on the University of Applied Sciences study programme European Studies – Management of EU Projects every year.
Registration deadline: 31 May
You want to know as soon as possible if you will get accepted at our university? Then apply no later than 31 March! We assign the first study slots as early as the first weeks of April.
Registrations for the University of Applied Sciences study programme European Studies – Management of European Projects received by the given deadline will be considered for the next academic year. Candidates may register online.
A prerequisite for participation in the admission procedure is completion of all the registration requirements by the given deadline. A pre-selection takes place based on the documents provided. The personal interview consists of three parts:
Part A of the admission procedure consists of a five-minute Power-Point presentation about the candidate’s previous education, professional experience, additional qualifications, reasons for applying for the study programme and any other issues the candidate considers to be important.
Part B consists of research and a five-minute Power-Point presentation on a current topic about the European Union selected by the candidate.
Part C covers general knowledge about the European Union, concentrating on the topic chosen for the presentation. Moreover we want to get to know you, your skills, competences and your reasons for applying for the study programme.
If the candidate does not attend the interview without a good reason, the candidate will be excluded from the admission procedure.
Candidates are evaluated, ranked and informed in writing about their application.
Candidates who are not offered a firm place are put on a waiting list and move up the list if other candidates decide to drop out. Late registrations will only be considered if there are places available.
After acceptance of the place offered at the Master´s Programme European Studies – Management of EU projects, a deposit of EUR 350,00 is requested by the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland to guarantee the place on the course. This deposit is refunded to registered students after the end of the first semester. If a candidate does not fulfil the admission requirements (e.g. he/she does not pass the final bachelor examination) the deposit will be returned. In all other cases the deposit is forfeit.
For applicants with certificates from third countries (i.e. all countries except the member states of the EEA/EU and Switzerland) without EU visa facilitation agreements the application deadline for the study programme starting in September ends on 15 March of the same year. This should give you sufficient time to apply for the required residence permit and/or visa and to obtain any missing documents and certifications.
