Rules for fair play in construction

Jennifer Nussbaumer studied at the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences, specialising in Legal Management.

Problems in the construction industry often arise from the complex interplay of various parties involved. Adherence to compliance guidelines poses a particular challenge. Jennifer Nussbaumer, a graduate of the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences, investigated in her master's thesis in the field of legal management how these compliance guidelines can be successfully integrated into the corporate culture and adhered to.

It is crucial that companies realise that failure to comply with compliance rules is detrimental to their own interests.

She emphasises that, in return, compliance with these rules has a positive impact on the personal integrity of those involved, as well as on the company itself and its reputation.

She concludes: "The challenges in this sector are considerable. Many general contractors delegate all tasks after the shell construction to subcontractors, which leads to a high level of networking complexity. Comprehensive consideration of all relevant factors is required in order to manage this optimally and in compliance with the law."
